Venture Academia will be restarting Week 1, Spring Quarter!

—- New Program Focus —-

Students who take part in this new program will apply user-centric thinking to investigate the needs of those who might benefit from the groundbreaking research being done here at UC Davis. Students will also lay the foundation for a product or service which meets those needs, creating value and benefiting somebody’s life and work through research and design thinking. The program consists of short weekly meetings and tasks which culminate in a final presentation and a short white paper.

This past October, in this event, we had a company representative and current UC Davis student who is an intern at New Relic speak about their experience being apart of the organization.

OSISoft is primarily a software company that works with other companies in various industries like Nike and Hersheys to analyze their company data such that they can increase their profits. Earlier this month, we had a company representative and two engineers speak about their experience working there in their very fluid roles.


SWE Mentorship Program

This Fall, the Society of Women Engineers at UC Davis is hosting a 10 week long mentorship program to support underrepresented students who are interested in applying to engineering majors. The program is open to high school seniors who identify as female, gender noncomforming, non-binary, or gender expansive individuals. There will be weekly sessions with UC Davis College of Engineering advisors, faculty, current students, and alumni, as well as smaller group mentorship sessions with current engineering students to help answer questions and provide individualized support. The program will run from September 24th to November 22nd and is open to high school seniors who identify as female or non-binary.
