April is excited to be the President of SWE this year. She says, ““I’m really excited about all the new events that will be going on this year! I’m really glad I get to work and grow with these amazing woman. As President I really want to maintain SWE’s strong relationship with the students on campus. Really looking forward to working with my new board this year!”
Heather is a fourth year Aerospace Engineering major. She says, ““I’m looking forward to the continued cultivation of an exciting, inspiring, and motivated group of women engineers at UC Davis! The bonds we foster as members of the organization and the opportunities we share as friends constitute, in my opinion, the most valuable part of SWE. As Internal Vice President, I’m eager to maintain our symbiotic relationship with other clubs on campus, as well as other SWE sections in the area. I can’t wait to meet our incoming members, enjoy the many professional and organizational development opportunities SWE at UC Davis will provide, and attempt to enjoy my senior year along the way”
Yamini is a Computer Engineering major and is excited to be the External Vice President this year. She says, “I am thrilled to join the SWE Board once again. As the external Vice President, I look forward to providing opportunities to our members and helping them achieve their professional goals. Apart from maintaining our relationships with some strong partners, I am excited to collaborate with many industry representatives who have expressed their interest in starting a relationship with us this year. I also look forward to working with new officers and meeting new members. We are always here to help you and answer any questions you might have so please feel free reach out! It will be a rollercoaster ride for me and I cannot wait for the year to begin!”
Tanvir is currently a senior studying Chemical Engineering, and she is very excited to be the Outreach Chair of SWE. She says, ““This year, I’m really looking forward to getting to pinpoint what the outreach chair position means for our SWE chapter and exploring different ways we can make an impact on womxn in STEM of all ages!”
Prachi is a Computer Science and Engineering Student, who is the Secretary of SWE. She says, “SWE has been a very important part of my college journey. I am grateful to have an opportunity to give back to the community as an officer this year. I look forward to having more technical and informational general meetings. I am also very excited for Project Aspire, the event that inspired me to be a part of this amazing group!”
Kavihesha is a Computer Science and Engineering major and she is delighted to be the Webmaster of SWE. She says, “As an officer, I am hoping to learn from others and support each other through the year. I can’t wait for all the amazing events that SWE has planned for this year! I am looking forward to working with the other officers to make this school year one of the best years for SWE!”
Aditi is very happy to be the Treasurer of SWE. She says, “I came in contact with SWE my freshman year. I went to a couple of meetings but I wasn’t very involved in the club. But at the end of Fall quarter I chose SWE to be my discourse community for UWP1, so I spend hours researching the organization and even interviewed the officers. I learned so much about their mission statement and all the things they were doing to promote diversity. This is what eventually led me to join SWE and I am beyond excited for this year!”
Esmeralda is a Chemical Engineering major, and she the Assistant Outreach Chair of SWE. She says, “I didn’t ask to be Latina, no mas tuve suerte.” She hopes to end the year with more insight on a future career in viticulture.
Vanessa is an Electrical Engineering major, and she is excited to be a member of the Executive Council. She says, “As a new member of executive council I’m looking forward to what our team can accomplish together. I’m fairly new to SWE so I don’t know what to expect, but I’m glad to be on board and to share this experience with these young aspiring women engineers.This year I hope to become more involved and get out of my comfort zone. At some point I would like to give back and inspire young girls to pursue a future in stem despite the challenges that come with it. I am also just as passionate about dance as I am about engineering.”
Smita is a Computer Science major and she is happy to be part of the Execute Council. She says, “I’m so thrilled to be an officer of SWE this year and can’t wait to see what this year has in store for us! As part of EC, I’m dedicated to facilitate events that continue to empower us young women!
I know firsthand what a club like SWE can do to inspire girls like me and to make them bold, fearless, and strive for independence in the way that I hope to be someday as well. Everyone in SWE has truly been so supportive and I hope to offer that same unwavering support to other women in any little way I can. I’m so grateful to be on this journey with such phenomenal individuals by my side!”
Victoria is a Electrical Engineering major and she is thrilled to be the publicist of SWE. She says, “This is going to be my first year as an officer and I’m excited to see what I am capable of. As publicist I hope to reach a wider audience and hopefully encourage more people to join SWE if they are unsure about doing so. I want more people to know about SWE because I wasn’t sure that completing my major was possible for me until I met so many other inspiring women pursuing engineering careers. It is not easy, but it is possible. I hope to inspire as many young women as I can throughout my journey as a dancing engineer (I like to dance in my free time).”
Jasmin is a Civil/Environmental Engineering major, and she is excited to continue to grow our community of SWE graduate students this year, and to continue working on SWE’s outreach projects.
