[Laila Hassen – Presidential Advisor] Laila Hassen is a 5th Year Civil and Environmental Engineering major, current Presidential Advisor for SWE at UC Davis, and the Regional Collegiate Communications Editor for Region A. She has previously served as President, Vice President, and Secretary for this section, overseeing and managing more than 200 members, a 10 officer board, and the largest student-run organization budget within the College of Engineering. Laila first got involved with SWE after attending a workshop at the SJSU section, and has made it her mission to reenergize SWE’s message, increase member awareness, and provide members with the vital skills necessary for life after college. She has spoken at several conferences regarding internships, leadership, and overall how to kick-start careers. Her studies focus in energy, the environment, and sustainability with research and projects on seismic infrastructure, water quality in Lake Tahoe, Bay Area air quality, the oil/gas industry, and process improvement. She has held more than 8 internships with a variety of company including consulting firms using SolidWorks, Pacific Gas and Electric Company, kW Engineering, Chevron Energy Solutions, and WattzOn. During her free time, Laila enjoys hitting it up in tennis, hiking, eating sushi, cheering on the Warriors and Raiders, and is a routine coffee consumer. [Cheryl Fichter – President] Cheryl is entering her senior year of studying chemical engineering here in Davis. She has held positions in the UC Davis SWE section as External Vice President, and Publicist/Historian. She has had internships with Pacific Gas & Electric and Chevron Corporation in the San Francisco Bay Area. Outside of school and work, Cheryl likes to create oil paintings, play with dogs, discover new foodie restaurants, and she is currently learning the Spanish language. [Alex Mora – External Vice President] Alex is a fourth year Biosystems Engineering major. When she’s not studying in Bainer, she enjoys cooking and trying out new recipes, running, and spending time with friends. She also loves Art History, Harry Potter (she’s a Ravenclaw), and scoping out new coffee shops. She is also the Aesthetics Captain of the UC Davis Concrete Canoe team. [Linda Lan Phung – Internal Vice President] Linda Lan Phung is a senior biomedical engineering major who loves spending time in nature and trying new food. She is also a Star Wars and Marvel fan, so she would always be down for a movie marathon or discovering new shows and/or films. [Jasmin McInerney – Executive Council] Jasmin is a graduate student from Australia studying a PhD in water resources engineering. The ocean is our biggest water resource and Jasmin is working on improving subsea infrastructure for energy production. Jasmin uses autonomous and robotic vehicles equipped with various oceanographic instruments to investigate the interaction of large masses of water in the ocean, with the aim of better understanding the forces this can put on ocean infrastructure. [Ahalya Bhandarkar – Executive Council] Ahalya is a third-year Electrical Engineering major. Her hobbies include playing tennis, badminton, guitar and binge-watching Netflix! She’s also a HUGE Harry Potter fan (House is Ravenclaw) and she loves the TV show Friends. An interesting fact about her is that she hates chocolate! In the past, other than SWE, she has been a part of the Picnic Day team and FYAC Peer Mentors on campus. She also intends on joining either a dance class or the fencing club this year! [Bhoomi Vasishtha – Executive Council] Bhoomi Vasishtha is a 3rd year Computer Science major with a minor in Statistics. Bhoomi is also a peer advisor for Computer Science. When she is not coding, she loves to cook and dance. A fun fact about her is that she knows three different languages. She is looking forward to meet all the new SWE members and make some good memories with them. [Harshita Kaushal – Executive Council] Harshita is a second-year Computer Engineering major She loves to explore the outdoors, play basketball, paint, and listen to different types of music (and occasionally will sing!). Harshita is also a huge Harry Potter fan, and she is fluent in both Spanish and Hindi. Something new she’s trying is learning how to play the guitar. [Heather Lynch – Secretary] Heather is a second-year at UC Davis, majoring in Aerospace Science and Engineering. Aside from the Society of Women Engineers, she is a member of the Advanced Modeling Aeronautics Team. Heather loves film, music, and watching sports. She has a passion for volunteering, worships penguins, and can be found at the beach, playing piano, or beating her friends at Mario Kart. [Faustine Yiu – Treasurer] Faustine is a third-year undergraduate student interested in utilizing software technology to improve standards of education and environmental sustainability. She takes every opportunity as a growing experience to better herself and inspire the people around her. In her spare time, she enjoys playing basketball, working out, playing flute and drum, listening to music, and spending time with family and friends. [April Reynoso – Publicist] April is a second-year Chemical Engineering major. She’s also involved in LEADR. Some fun facts about April is that she has a huge love for turtles and enjoys solving puzzles. [Lanh Hong – Webmaster] Lanh is a fourth-year undergraduate studying Computer Science. She transferred to UCD in Fall 2016 and quickly found that SWE was very welcoming and encouraging. She’s always working on improving her skills and pushing herself to do things outside of her comfort zone.Other than school, she likes the outdoors, whether it’s hiking, running, playing sports, or exploring the city.
