2018 UW Distinguished Young Scholars Seminar

The Distinguished Young Scholars Committee would like to invite top graduate students and postdocs to apply for their annual “Distinguished Young Scholars Seminar” series at the University of Washington in Seattle. This summer seminar provides top early career chemical engineers, and those in related fields, the opportunity to prepare their hour-long research seminar and gain critical interviewing skills. It is a service to the profession and an opportunity for graduate students and postdocs to see the best of the best in their peer group. The deadline for submissions is May 18th, 2018. This is a great professional development opportunity that provides a leg-up for the autumn job search, not to mention that summer in Seattle is an utter delight! They will provide all travel expenses, and the top speaker of the series will receive a $500.00 prize (as judged by the audience of UW chemical engineering. graduate students). Solar Spring Break with GRID Alternatives
Solar Spring Break is an immersive service-learning experience where students spend a week with a GRID Alternatives office installing solar for low-income families and exploring the intersection of renewable energy technology and community development. Each project hosts up to 12 participants traveling to one of GRID Alternatives’ regional offices across the US or even internationally.
